Fellow traders,

Since announcing our release date, the question we've received most often is this: what makes this game different? In this post we want to walk through the systems that form the foundation of Trade Capitalism, and explain why we designed them the way we did.

Effort will be the only path to success

Trade Capitalism will contain no advantage that can be purchased with money. This is not a marketing line — it is a design rule. You will not be able to speed up production with money, own businesses your rivals cannot reach, or climb the leaderboards through a paid advantage.

The reasoning is simple. The value of a trading simulation comes from players competing on equal terms. If one player can buy their way ahead, the market stops being a real market and the rankings lose their meaning. The player at the top will be the one who reads the market best and makes the smartest decisions.

The items in our in-game shop will be priced very affordably. We see the shop not as a revenue channel but as an option for players who want to support the game, and we have set our prices accordingly.

Opening a business will only be the beginning

In many trading games, opening a business is enough on its own. You build it, income accumulates, you grow. That will not be the case in Trade Capitalism.

Your business will not be a box that generates automatic income. You will decide what to produce and when, which goods to buy and at what price, and when to sell the stock in your hands. Supply and demand will shift constantly. A product that turns a profit today may be dead weight a week from now. Buying low and selling high, stocking up at the right moment, and reading where the market is heading before it gets there — that will be the real skill of this game.

In short, owning a business will not be enough to become a successful trader. You will have to follow the market.

Activity will be part of the game

If you do not log in for more than 6 hours, your businesses will stop producing.

This was a deliberate decision. Our goal is to prevent an inactive player from growing at the same rate as one who is consistently engaged. A healthy economy depends on production coming from businesses that are actually being managed. Businesses that run indefinitely on their own would flood the market in a short time and devalue the earnings of players who put in the work.

This system will not be a problem for anyone who checks in on their businesses a few times a day. If you take a longer break, your progress simply pauses — you lose nothing, and you pick up exactly where you left off when you return.

Your career will not be limited to trading

We are not designing Trade Capitalism around a single path to wealth. Players will be able to specialize according to their own interests. Below are the main career paths that will be available at launch.

Construction and real estate

You will be able to build houses by gathering construction materials yourself or purchasing them from the market. Once built, you can rent those properties out to other players and earn steady rental income. Location, property features, and the current supply on the market will all directly affect rental prices. This path carries a high initial cost, but offers stable long-term returns.

Vehicle auctions and the automotive trade

You will be able to acquire vehicles through in-game auctions. You will not be the only bidder — you will compete against other players, which means correctly judging what a vehicle is actually worth. Vehicles you win can be rented out to other players or resold for profit. The vehicle market will fluctuate just as the goods market does.

Intercity logistics

You will be able to haul freight between cities with your trucks. This system will not only serve your own operations but other players as well. Distance, cargo type, and delivery time will determine your earnings, and as your fleet grows you will be able to take on larger contracts. Logistics will be one of the systems that ties the economy together — a production surplus in one city can only meet demand in another through the players who move it.

The stock market

There will be a functioning stock market inside the game. Instead of putting your capital straight into production, you will be able to invest it and take profit on the way up. The market will carry as much risk as it does reward, and succeeding there will demand a different skill set than succeeding in production.

Farming and production

You will be able to work your land to produce raw materials, then refine those materials into higher-value goods. Whether it is more profitable to sell raw or to process first will depend entirely on the state of the market at that moment.

These systems will be connected

None of the career paths above will operate in isolation. The builder will buy materials from the player producing them. The producer will need a hauler to move goods to a distant city. The hauler may rent their truck from the player who won it at auction. The entire economy will rest on these connections between players.

Because of this, there will be no single correct strategy. One player may focus on production and win through volume. Another may never produce anything and grow wealthy purely through buying and selling. A third may build an entirely passive income model around rentals. Which path you take will be up to you.

We want to hear from you

The systems described here are still in development and open to community feedback. We are especially curious about a few things: which career path are you planning to specialize in, are there professions you would like to see added, and what are your thoughts on the activity requirement?

You can share your ideas by opening a topic in the Guides and Strategy or Market and Trade sections of our forum. We still have time to evaluate suggestions before launch.

Thank you for your interest and support.
