Taxes & closing businesses

Collection tax, marketplace deductions and daily wealth tax are different charges. Separating when debt arises from when you pay it makes cash flow easier to understand.

Collection tax

Business collections add 1% of the collected amount to tax debt. It is not immediately deducted from that collection; you pay it later at the Tax Office. Eligible income such as vehicle rentals also creates collection tax.

Marketplace deductions are a separate tax. The base marketplace sales tax is 10%, subject to training and applicable city benefits.

Daily wealth-tax bands

The daily check runs when you visit the home page and does not charge twice on the same calendar day. The applicable rate applies to all estimated net wealth, not just the portion above a threshold.

The calculated amount is added to tax debt rather than immediately deducted from cash.

  • $50,000,000 or less: exempt.
  • Over $50,000,000 up to $150,000,000: 2%.
  • Over $150,000,000 up to $300,000,000: 4%.
  • Over $300,000,000 up to $500,000,000: 6%.
  • Over $500,000,000: 8%.

Paying debt and investment restrictions

Relevant new-investment restrictions begin when tax debt reaches $250,000. This threshold does not cancel smaller debts or prevent tax from accruing; smaller debts can still be paid.

A payment must cover at least half the outstanding debt, and you may pay it all. Some actions, such as sending a bank transfer, require no tax debt at all.

Closing a business

Closing a business through the Tax Office refunds 75% of its current sector setup cost plus the reference cost of its unlocked extra shelves. The first shelf is part of the setup price; additional shelves are calculated separately.

The current implementation settles pending sales before closure and also transfers the accumulated till balance. Closure is not a reversible pause: the business and its shelves are removed. Review the refund breakdown before confirming.

How taxes affect rankings

Tax rankings use the total tax actually paid, not the debt assessed. Growing debt alone does not improve your rank.

Use the Tax Office to follow the wealth-tax base, rate and resulting debt. Paying debt reduces both cash and liabilities, which is one reason cash and net wealth are different measures.
