Each warehouse belongs to one city. Businesses sell from stock in their own city; they do not automatically use inventory elsewhere. Moving stock between cities requires freight.
A new level-1 warehouse holds 2,500 items in total. This limit applies to the combined quantity of everything stored, not separately to each product type.
Upgrading storage
Each level adds 2,500 capacity. The next upgrade costs current level × $2,500: $2,500 from level 1 to 2, then $5,000 from 2 to 3. Upgrades stop at level 1,000, giving a standard total capacity of 2,500,000.
Production capacity and warehouse capacity are different. A home or holding bonus that lets you produce more does not expand your warehouse by the same amount.
Inputs use space too
Every seed, feed, raw-material and nanomaterial unit occupies one storage slot. When stocking up at low prices, reserve room for upcoming harvests and deliveries as well.
Inputs leave the warehouse when production begins, while collected output occupies space again. Laboratory recipes may compress many ingredients into fewer packages, but all required ingredients must be present when you start.
Reading stock information
A warehouse quantity is shared by every shelf drawing that product from that city. If several shops sell it, consider their combined consumption. The home page's purchasing manager helps you notice shortages.
Purchases are limited by cash, free warehouse space and the seller's available quantity. Unlimited system supply does not mean unlimited storage for your account.
Preparing a shipment
You must already have a warehouse in the destination city. Posting a shipment removes the goods from the source warehouse and charges $0.50 per item upfront. A posted freight job cannot be cancelled.
If the destination warehouse is full on arrival, only the quantity that fits enters storage and the rest may be lost. Keep space reserved for incoming goods. When you carry your own shipment, its prepaid freight fee is refunded on delivery, without extra income or skill points.
